Replacing the display on a PURE Evoke 2S

Courtesy David Solomons

Reader David Solomons has written up some notes describing how he managed to repair the display on his PURE Evoke 2S. Some photos are included.

I've made them into a PDF which can be downloaded here

I hope they help but please note I don't have any other details apart from what is already elsewhere on my website, including links to possible suppliers of displays.

I tried this method and it worked perfectly. Many thanks to David, and Alan. I would not have attempted this without these detailed instructions!

Hi, looks like on a second hand 2S the front ‘window’ is scratched, along with a failing display.

Does anyone know if this is the actual display or a clear plastic window in front of it?
If there is a window is it likely that I could just remove it and also fit a new display?

If the Evoke etc is anything to go by, it will likely be the clear plastic screen that's in front of the LCD itself. I didn't think it would pop out from the cabinet, but lesser scratches could be polished and buffed out with eg jeweller's rouge or even chrome metal polish.
